Saving and Managing Graphs and Constructions

IMPORTANT NOTE: Before saving or accessing your saved graphs and constructions in the Desmos Graphing Calculator, Geometry Tool, or 3D Calculator, make sure you've created a free account.

 

Saving Graphs and Constructions

When you make savable changes, the Save button will appear. Click Save to save the graph or construction to your account.

If you attempt to save while not signed in, you will be prompted to sign in or create an account.

Quick tip: You can also type CMD + S to save your graph.

The carat next to the title is pressed with a drop down menu to rename or duplicate the graph with rename called out.

If you want to rename a saved graph or construction, click on the carat next to the Save button.

As you make changes, the Save button will continue to appear. Remember to click Save each time you’d like to keep updates or changes.

To access all of your saved graphs and constructions, click on the menu icon (three horizontal bars) located in the upper left corner (or type CMD + O).

This menu is also where you’ll find examples to explore.

 

Managing Your Saved Graphs and Collections

Your saved graphs and constructions are listed in chronological order, with the most recently saved appearing first.

To search through your saves, click on the magnifying glass icon next to your name at the top of the screen.

To delete a graph or construction, click on the X in the same line.

A message saying Deleting... will appear, along with a Cancel option. You have 5 seconds to undo your deletion by clicking Cancel .

If you want to work with a saved file without altering the original, start by clicking on the name of the file and selecting Duplicate . You can optionally change the name and then press the Save button. This will create a new file, separate from the original.

 

Sharing Your Saved Graphs and Constructions

To share a link to your graph or construction, click the Share button (the arrow on the right side of the top toolbar of the calculator). From there, you can copy and paste the link to share your graph or construction along with all of its expressions. Click Copy to save the link to your clipboard.

When you share the link with someone else, they can save a copy to their account. They can also make edits to their version, but any changes they make will not affect the version in your account.

If you paste a link into the expression list of a new graph or construction, it will import the contents into the new one.

Please note that links can only be pasted into the calculator they were originally created in, with one exception. You can also paste links from the Desmos Graphing Calculator into the Desmos Geometry Tool.

In the Share menu of the Desmos Graphing Calculator, options also exist to Print your graph (frequently used to save it as a PDF to print), as well as Export your graph to an image file (PNG, SVG, or to a Braille embosser). Lastly, the Embed option allows you to copy the HTML code necessary to embed your graph in another webpage.

In the Desmos Geometry Tool, you have the same image export options.

Recovering Lost Work

If you accidentally navigated away from the calculator page without saving your most recent changes, you may be able to recover your work.

Click the Open Graph menu icon located in the top left corner of the calculator, and look for a link that says Attempt Recovery .

After clicking Attempt Recovery , you will see a list titled Recovered Work, displaying your most recent unsaved changes.

If Attempt Recovery doesn't retrieve your graph, please contact us at support@desmos.com. Describe the graph or construction as best you can, including details such as when you last worked on it (specifying your time zone), and the email associated with your Desmos account.

Please note that if the graph or construction was never initially saved, we may not be able to recover it.
